Will there still be a native Linux version?

Postby apocalyptech » Thu Oct 25, 2012 6:27 pm

I'm mostly just curious - I'm guessing it was probably in the middle of Incredipede development that Adobe pulled the rug out from under the Linux standalone Flash plugin, which I imagine might make things more difficult in that respect. The game does work quite well for me in Chrome, though, so I'm happy enough just playing it through there if there won't be a native binary. (Though it doesn't appear as though I get the "enhanced" graphic effects, whatever those might be.)

Regardless, the game is quite fun, and I'm looking forward to playing through it all!

It's going to take some time. I'm going to basically have to re-write how the game renders. I can do it, it's just going to take a while.

You can get those enhanced effects in Chrome on Linux. It's just that Flash Stage3D acceleration is disabled by default.

You have to run Chrome with this command

google-chrome --ignore-gpu-blacklist

You can also check status of graphic features from within Chrome

chrome://gpu-internals

Unreal Engine 3 works on Linux via Stage3D

Best of luck with that! As I say, it's not that big of a deal since at least it's playable on Chrome on Linux.

Oh, nice. Yeah, that works great. Incredipede is much prettier with the acceleration. Thanks!

Chrome's GPU blacklist can also be permanently disabled on the chrome://flags page.
